We will thoroughly check your child's teeth and gums to make sure they are healthy. An examination may include taking X-rays to look for any problems that can't be seen with the naked eye. 

As part of every examination, we'll give your child's teeth a thorough cleaning to remove any plaque and tartar from their teeth. This simple step will help their smile stay healthy and sparkling clean.

If we find a cavity in your child's tooth, we can fill it with a tooth-colored filling that will restore the tooth's strength and function. We'll also help explain to your child what a cavity is, how it forms, and how they can prevent cavities with good brushing and flossing. 

Fluoride is a mineral that helps to strengthen tooth enamel, which makes it an excellent way to help protect your child's teeth from cavities. Fluoride treatments are a fast, simple solution that can keep your child's smile healthy between dental visits!

A sealant is a thin, protective coating that we can apply to your child's teeth to help prevent cavities. Sealants are usually applied to the back teeth, where cavities are most likely to form because the back teeth are harder to reach when brushing and flossing.

• Get your baby used to oral hygiene by brushing their gums and teeth with a soft-bristled toothbrush every day.

• Use a non-fluoride toothpaste (often called a "training toothpaste") if your child is younger than two years old. 

• Switch your child to fluoride toothpaste after they turn two years old. 

• Help your child floss their teeth and encourage them to do it on their own. 

• Use a child-safe mouthwash for children aged six years and older (younger children can rinse with tap water after brushing and flossing). 

• Limit sugary foods and drinks.

• Encourage your children to brush after meals.

• Brush your teeth with your child to show them how important good oral hygiene is (and to supervise their brushing!).
